After you’ve backup your data at least once if not twice onto external media, consider wiping the hard-drive that will be going back to the factory. Not that they would try to pry, it’s that once in a blue moon a returned hard-drive does not get wiped and gets sent back out to another customer, yes it’s very very rare, but not impossible.
Posted 31 March – AM. Unless there is confidential information on the hdd that you don’t wish to share I would’t bother with wiping the drive. As for the hdd being reinstalled in another customer’s computer.
