Because it corrupted my M. And it took me days to rebuild everything, with all the drivers and to reinstall all the programs.
So I am not too keen on trying to do that again. It seems to be a lazy answer from many techs. Like: “Just restart your computer and everything will be fine. I read your post. The only part which I don’t understand is your instructions on shutting down all the startup programs. My pop-up box doesn’t have a button for excluding all MS services. I’ve done everything else. I gave those steps first. You ignored those and only referenced the Clean Install I gave as a last resort. I have helped millions do Clean Installs with my tutorials dating back ten years which popularized it with consumers. Nobody who follows my Clean install tutorials has ever reported back a problem as a result or going forward. It is a better install than any amount of money can by.
But as I said I gave you the steps you asked for to avoid Upgrade problems first. Please go back and read them now before calling me lazy. Nobody helps more people in online tech forums than I do.

Well, I tried to update using the Windows Update Assistant. I don’t have any peripherals connected. Ran Malware Bytes, and disconnected all 3rd party antivirus. So, I uninstalled the Update Assistant. Downloading now Upgrade Assistant is notoriously buggy.
This will save your files and apps while bringing you up to the latest version by the most stable method. It will also bring all of your Updates current and solve most problems since it reinstalls Windows.
